My Approach

We were created for authenticity and connection, but along the way life happens to us. When we experience pain, whether a traumatic event or long seasons of disappointment and unfulfilment, the best, most vulnerable parts of ourselves often go missing and we find new ways of existing that help us feel safe. And while our new coping skills work for a while, they often cost us the authentic lives we truly crave.

Our work together will include examining the ways you have been coping to see what is working for you and what may not be helpful anymore. Within the safety of therapy we can finally pay attention to how the painful parts of your story have impacted your beliefs about yourself, your self-worth and your role in the world. Using tools such as EMDR, we are able to change your experiences at the circuitry level so that you are actually able to heal and experience new levels of emotional freedom.

Hello! I’m Jenny and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) with over a decade of experience providing evidence-based psychotherapy in a safe, supportive manner. I became a therapist because I was so curious why people are the way they are, which started with my own therapeutic journey. I believe that understanding ourselves and our stories is the starting point for healing, self-compassion and connection.

Like many modern therapists, I use a combination of approaches to suit my clients’ individual needs. Specific interventions that I utilize most are Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS) and psychodynamic therapy. My clients most often describe me as warm, empathetic and insightful. I understand that change is difficult and sometimes scary, but also believe it is very possible. I see people get better everyday and consider it a privilege to be a part of the journey.

Outside of therapy, I love to spend time with my children and husband enjoying the outdoors. I also enjoy organic gardening, holistic health, reading and yoga. Nothing makes me happier than connecting with loved ones over a cup of coffee.
